Be Honest and Transparent, IGP Instructs Policemen

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Dr. Kayode Egbetokun has called on police officers to uphold honesty and transparency in their duties.

Eko Hot Blog gathered that Egbetoku, during a two-day working visit to Edo State addressed the personnel at the Edo police command headquarters in Benin and inaugurated the modern Area Command Headquarters on Upper Sokponba Road.

He further assured the Federal Government is dedicated to enhancing the welfare of officers across the country.

“Do the best you can, serve the people to the best of your ability, and show commitment to the highest standard of integrity and public trust,” Egbetokun said.

“The best job in the world is the job of a policeman. It is a job you do, and people will pray for you. It is also a job you do, and people will give you the opposite of prayer. So, it is you the policemen who will decide which one you want,” he added.

The IGP highlighted the government’s commitment to improving police welfare, mentioning the recently launched police housing scheme aimed at providing affordable housing to all police officers.

“With what we have in place, and what we are putting together, houses will be affordable for all police officers such that you cannot serve the police for 35 years, retire and not have a home. That is what we are working on, and we are getting support from the Federal Government. This is to show to you that the government and the police administration are committed to improving welfare for all police officers.”

He also urged the officers of the Edo Command to remain dedicated to delivering excellent service to the residents of the state.
