Mrs Akinbile made the call during a sensitisation program on Thursday 14th October 2021, at Epe Local Government secretariat, while addressing residents along with traditional rulers, local government officials and tourism enthusiasts.

“I want to prepare your minds for the boom in tourism activities, which the entire Epe Division will experience in a short while, as a result of this community-based tourism initiative that we have brought to your doorstep. This initiative will translate to job opportunities for most of our youths,” she said.

Mrs Akinbile revealed that the Lagos State Government is poised to unravel the abundant tourism potentials across the State to bolster the tourism and economic viability of communities.

she also said that Epe and its environs would become a beehive of activities when the community-based tourism initiative kicks off, she also assured that tourists from across the world would visit the various communities in the Division for sightseeing, recreation and participation in local festivals.

The Chairman of Epe Local Government, Princess Surah Animashaun lauded Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his commitment towards changing the narrative in the Tourism sector from leisure activities to a viable business venture.

The chairman who listed some of the places of interest in the Epe Division said, “Here within the Epe division, we have the First Post Office, there is Slave Trade market, there’s cold and hot water here in Epe, Lord Luggard House, Cannon guns and it is also here in Epe that an Elephant was first sighted. These are just a few of the potentials we have that, if fully harnessed, will change our story for the better”.

Princess Surah thereafter reminded the gathering of some of the top-notch sectors of tourism which include food tourism, cultural tourism, educational tourism, health tourism amongst others.

This online media recalls that the event came weeks after the chairman commemorated the first of its kind colourful International Tourism Day celebrations in the State.
