EKO HOT BLOG reports that Esther Gabriel, a former Nigerian beauty queen and delegate at the 2021 Miss Globe World finale, has urged her fellow citizens to elect leaders with demonstrated capacity and ability to turn around the fortunes of the country.
In a post shared on her Instagram page, Esther Gabriel lamented the mismanagement of Nigeria by past leaders and called for prompt action to elect visionary, committed, and capable leadership.
She noted that tribalism, blind loyalty, selfishness, religious extremism, and sentimentalism had previously taken away Nigerians’ democratic rights and power, resulting in a denial of the right to freedom, safety, employment, and other opportunities they deserve as citizens.
According to Gabriel, Nigeria has everything it takes to be great, but her citizens have denied themselves the right and opportunity to do so through their political actions and decisions. She implored Nigerians to take advantage of the forthcoming elections to right their wrongs and make informed and unbiased decisions.
Gabriel expressed concern about the tendency of some Nigerians to vote along tribal and religious lines, warning that this approach could keep the citizens in bondage. She added that hunger and insecurity do not care about tribe or religion and urged Nigerians to vote wisely and right.
As the nation prepares for the polls, various groups and individuals have called for peaceful and credible elections, emphasizing the need for all parties to accept the results and avoid violence.
Gabriel’s message is in line with this trend, as she called on Nigerians to make informed and unbiased decisions and choose leaders who can steer the country towards a better future.
“In the past, we have allowed tribalism, blind loyalty, selfishness religious extremism and sentimentalism take away our democratic rights and power. And in turn denied ourselves the right to freedom, safety, employment and every opportunity we deserve to enjoy as citizens.
“We ruined our land and made it unlivable for ourselves and thereafter run away to places we feel are better and safer than ours.
“Nigeria as a country has all it takes to be great. Nigeria has everything it takes to give its citizens all that they need to live. But sadly her citizens kept denying themselves that right and opportunity through their political actions and decisions.
“Now, here is another opportunity another chance to right our wrongs and make informed and unbiased decisions”.
“This is the time as Nigerians to make the decision to either free ourselves from the shackles or continue to live in bondage.
“Remember hunger and insecurity does not care about tribe or religion. Vote wisely, Vote right”, she added.
