Activities marking the about-to-be installed 55th Alara of Ilara, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Olufolarin Olukayode Ogunsanwo, commenced weekend (Sunday, 2nd, August, 2020) with his triumphant entry into the town, amidst praises and encomium.
Barring any unforseen circumstances Oba Olufolarin Olukayode Ogunsanwo will be enthroned as the substantive king on 6th of August.
The ascension of oba Ogunsanwo to the throne is expected to herald a new season of economic prosperity and social re-engineering Ilara town.
Oba Ogunsanwo, who’s known to be a compassionate and selfless leader is expected to use his wealth of knowledge and experience to hasten development in the town.
The soon-to-be oba has, on many occasions, exhibited his altruistic disposition and passion for the advancement of humanity cause, which were exemplified in the height of the novel coronavirus that saw the government locked down the state.
Oba Ogunsanwo rose to the occasion in the bleakest of times by ameliorating the suffering of the people by providing them with succour and respite through relief items.
Oba Ogunsanwo, succeeded the late Alara of Ilara, Oba Abdul-Akeem Okunola ADESANYA, who reigned for 58years before joining his ancestors almost years ago.
The Oba to be installed observed every rites in a timely, culturally dictated precision as he trekked down with an unflinching support and cooperation from the Oba Alara-in-Council; highly progressive indigenes; residents and a host of well wishers.
According to Epe News, the new monarch will be installed and presented with staff of office by the Lagos State Government on Thursday, 6th August, 2020 after the traditional rites period at IPEBI (seclusion) which prepares an Oba, for his responsibilities which he embarked upon on Sunday.
While reacting to the emergence of the new king, a member of the Oba Alara-in-Council, High Chief Adebola Owolabi Talabi, who is also the Olisa of Ilara, described Oba Ogunsanwo’s outstanding qualities and personal characters as worthy of emulation.
He said “His Imperial Majesty is the custodian of culture and traditions, he will continue to ensure that the interest of our people come first and that a renewed spirit of cooperation and peaceful coexistence prevail in Ilara and its environ”.
Continue he said: “I congratulate Kabiyesi, the Baales’ of Ilara and the people of Ilara and its environ on this memorable occasion and pray that the Almighty Allah will continually grant Kabiyesi, the wisdom to lead our people and sound health to celebrate many fruitful and prosperous years on the throne”.
An indigene of Ilara, Comrade Abdul-Wahab Haruna, in a chat with our Correspondent, noted that history puts human experiences in context, providing us with a peep to understanding ourselves as a people and a culture.
Haruna, the new Coordinator, Agbekoya in Lagos State, stated that the last coronation of an Oba, witnessed in Ilara, was in 1960, when most of them were not yet been giving birth to. So, it is a rare privilege to witness these August occasion.
He urged the new monarch to carry everyone along in administering the town and listen to the advise as a visionary leader who shall always be at the forefront of the community’s development.
“I implore all community members to cooperate with our new king. In no distance future, the wind of goodness that will blow across Ilara, will be felt by all”, Haruna asserted.
