The renewed attacks follow a meeting just hours earlier, where Fulani leaders from Shinkafi, Moriki, and Zurmi urged Turji to reconsider his violent actions and lift his blockade of the Shinkafi-Gusau road.
The leaders appealed for peace, asking Turji to cease abductions and killings, particularly in Zamfara and neighboring Sokoto State. They also requested that he frees up critical routes to allow the movement of people and goods.
Despite these efforts, Turji failed to respond thus appearing that their pleas fell on deaf ears.
The attacks come shortly after Turji threatened reprisals following the recent arrest of his close associate, Bako Wurgi, by Nigerian Army troops. Wurgi, also known as Baka NaGarba, was a key figure in Turji’s network, involved in ransom negotiations and the collection of payments from kidnappings.
