The contingents of Nigerian Sportswriters who made the short trip to the Benin Republic were served a taste of what to expect on matchday as they were denied access to the stadium when the Super Eagles had the feel of the Stadium in Port Novo.
EKO HOT BLOG scoops that the reason for the lockout is connected to the COVID-19 safety protocols put in place by the Beninese Football Federation, FBF.
According to reports, only Journalists who have been certified to be COVID-19 negative will be allowed to access the stadium provided they can produce their negative results.
This was contained in a release on Friday by the Football Federation on the health safety protocols at the stadium.
The FBF also states that there will be no press conference after the match.
The Football Federation however apologise for everyone affected by these safety measures.
Nigeria will face the Benin republic on Saturday by 5 pm at the Charles De Gaulle Stade Port Novo on matchday five of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
Nigeria tops Group L with 8 points, closely followed by Benin with 7 points, the home team needs the maximum point to book their place in the competition while Nigeria needs a point to scale through.
