Best graduating student of Fountain University, Osun State, Lawal Halimah, from the Department of Microbiology, has received a cash prize of N350,000 from different sponsors who were thrilled by her outstanding performance.
Lawal who graduated with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.94 was honoured and 307 students were conferred with various degrees in their respective fields at the 9th convocation of the University.
Out of this number, 29 students were honoured and celebrated for finishing their programmes with first-class honours.

In her valedictorian speech, she enjoined other students to make good use of the opportunity of their training and acquire unlimited knowledge.
The former Chancellor of the university, Vice Admiral Jubril Ayinla charged the students to shun all vices and make resilience, honesty and hard work their mantra.
The new Chancellor of the institution, Alhaji Umaru Abdul Mutallab, was also installed during the ceremony. He pledged to make Fountain varsity a great institution. “I intend to put my experiences from the corporate world into Fountain University to make it great.”
Vice chancellor, Prof. Amidu Sanni, on his part, congratulated the students, members of staff, graduands and parents on their success, urging them to make good use of their degrees.
The governor of the State of Osun, Gboyega Oyetola, who was also in attendance, admonished the graduating students to be of good conduct and also good ambassadors of the university.
