Big Sean Reveals Why Marriage with Jhené Aiko is Still on Hold After 8 Years

American rapper Big Sean has explained why he and singer Jhené Aiko have not yet married despite their eight years of dating.

In an appearance on the ‘Out of Context’ podcast last Friday, Sean told host Charlamagne tha God that he is not yet ready for marriage because “there’s a lot of work that needs to be done.”

“It’s a little personal, you know what I mean? But to be real with you, just like any couple who has dealt with love, we’ve had our ups and downs,” Sean said. “I think it’s about finding the right navigation through it all. To me, marriage symbolizes the best relationship. I would like to, but there’s still a lot of work that needs to be done.”

Sean and Aiko have had an on-again, off-again relationship since 2016. At the time they began dating, Aiko was married to producer Dot da Genius. She filed for divorce in August 2016, citing irreconcilable differences.

In November 2022, Sean and Aiko welcomed their son, Noah. Aiko also has a 15-year-old daughter, Namiko, from her previous relationship with singer O’Ryan.

Sean had previously proposed to his ex-girlfriend, Naya Rivera, in October 2013. However, their engagement was called off six months later. Rivera passed away in 2020.
