Biodun Stephen’s Movie, “Joba”, Hits Cinemas Across Nigeria

By the time you are reading this, a new movie titled Joba would have been released in cinemas nationwide.

Written, directed and produced by Biodun Stephen, the faith-based movie hit cinemas across Nigeria on Friday, April 5.

Featuring Blossom Chukwujekwu, Enado Odigie, Ronke Ojo, Chris Ihuewa and Christine Osifuye among others, producers said fans are in for a great ride given  Stephen’s pedigree earned as brain behind some Nollywood blockbusters like Picture Perfect and The Visit as well as highly rated Ovy’s Voice and Ehi’s Bitters.

Although told using a faith-based template, Joba has a strong and relevant emotional core that exist at a given period in everybody’s life and connects viewers to events in their personal lives which question their beliefs, self-esteem and tenacity.

The movie boasts a gripping emotional journey based on the travails of a young Christian couple battling between their marriage and faith.

The faith of the couple is tried, especially when all fingers are pointed to the husband as the cause of their troubles. He must protect his wife, who is on the verge of insanity, while still managing to keep his faith.

Speaking about his experience in relation to role played, Blossom Chukwujekwu said: “Acting first of all is based on whether it’s your experience or other people’s experience.

So acting is drawn from experiences. Mind you, there are not so many men like Lami (lead male character in Joba).

I dare not even say I am like Lami. So, basically it’s for us men to mirror Lami and note that there is a lot that we need to take responsibility for. You would find out that it took the responsibility of Lami – spiritually, mentally, emotionally, ethically – to be strong for his wife.

I dare say that as men, we really need to do better. Joba takes me through emotional journey I never thought existed.”
