Eko Hot Blog reports that a former Governor of Osun State, Bisi Akande, has highlighted the difference between the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Akande, who was the first interim Chairman of the APC, insisted that the ruling party is not similar to the PDP.
He noted that the PDP is coming from military background while the APC is coming from the background of discussions, opposition, examination and reviewing.
Speaking on Channels TV, the elder statesman said, “Honestly, APC and PDP are not alike. They’re not alike because they’re coming from different backgrounds.
“The PDP is coming from the background of military incursion into governance.
“The original leaders of the PDP were soldiers, who didn’t want to leave power but had to leave power or agents of the military, like the contractors, who the military were using when they were in power.
“Military inclined minds formed the PDP. But the APC is coming from the background of the opposition to the inheritors of the military in governance.
“And the military in governance is nothing but a bundle of impunity ..each leader works according to the way his brain works.
“But a civil administration needs a collective understanding of what should be done and that is through constant debate. Military has no room for debates.
“You have to obey the last order. What the master says is what is right. The master might be a fool but whatever command he gives, you must obey… So when you bring them to civil administration, the mentality of vandalism is the bedrock because they’re not trained to govern but to fight war… the totality of what the military in power did is impunity in power. The PDP came with that background and they were ruling like that.
“The APC came with the background of discussion, opposition, examination, reviewing and saying ‘okay let us come together and be in power..”
