Boat Capsize Claims Over 20 Lives as Residents Flee Bandit Attack in Zamfara

Over 20 people have reportedly died in the Kali community of Gumi Local Government Area, Zamfara State, while trying to escape from a bandit attack.

EKO HOT BLOG has learned that their boat capsized in a river.

A resident, who wished to remain anonymous, stated that the bandits attacked the village at 1:00 pm last Sunday. The assailants arrived on motorcycles with advanced weaponry, prompting the villagers to flee for their safety.

The overcrowded boat capsized in the Birnin Magaji River, resulting in the deaths of at least 20 villagers. The resident reported that five bodies were recovered from Falale River, four from Birnin Magaji River, and three from Gadar Gummi River.

The bandits also terrorized the communities of Kwammaka, Kwammaka Jibi, Kwammaka Mai Katsina, Kallin, and Kazura villages within the Gummi Local Government Area.

The police have yet to release a statement regarding the incident.
