Bobrisky Asked Me for ₦3m to Access VIP Section in Prison – Falz

Popular Nigerian rapper and activist, Folarin Falana, known as Falz, has confirmed his communication with controversial social media personality Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, regarding the legal issues Bobrisky faced earlier this year.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Falz revealed that Bobrisky had requested ₦3 million to secure a VIP section at the Correctional Centre.

This clarification comes after a letter from Falz’s legal team, Falana & Falana Chambers, demanding a retraction from Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, over defamatory claims made against Falz.

The letter, dated September 26, 2024, addressed accusations suggesting that Falz conspired with Bobrisky to “pervert the course of justice” by offering financial assistance for a favorable legal outcome.

Falz’s lawyer, Taiwo E. Olawanle, clarified in the letter that while Bobrisky did reach out for advice, Falz firmly rejected the idea of providing financial help, insisting that no payments were necessary for legal support.

The letter stated, “Your publication of September 25, 2024, on your Instagram page titled ‘In everything and everyone that is mentioned here, I will be disappointed if truly FALZ and his father are involved in this whole Bobrisky issue…’ has been brought to our attention, where you made defamatory statements against our client.

“To set the record straight, our client never initiated contact with Mr. Idris Okuneye. In fact, Mr. Okuneye was the one who initiated the conversation. On May 4, 2024, Mr. Idris Okuneye (AKA Bobrisky) reached out to our client, seeking a phone conversation, which our client agreed to, knowing about the charges against him and believing he might need legal advice.

“However, during the call, instead of requesting legal counsel, Mr. Okuneye stated he was in distress and needed ₦3,000,000 to pay officials to secure a stay in the VIP section of the Correctional Centre.”

The letter added, “Our client advised him that there was no need to pay anyone at the Correctional Centre. Mr. Okuneye also claimed his lawyers mishandled his case by advising him to plead guilty. Despite his repeated request for money, our client continuously refused.”

The letter further addressed the defamatory allegations, including insinuations of a homosexual affair and efforts to secure a presidential pardon for Bobrisky.

Falana & Falana Chambers demanded an immediate retraction and public apology across all platforms where the claims were made. Failure to comply within 24 hours, the letter warned, would result in legal action, including a claim for damages to Falz’s reputation.
