The Nigerian Army has announced that 15 senior Boko Haram commanders, along with their families, have surrendered to troops in Borno State amidst ongoing military offensives aimed at dismantling the terrorist group’s strongholds.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Army detailed recent successes in its intensified campaign against Boko Haram in the northeast, highlighting the dismantling of multiple hideouts and the arrest of individuals suspected of aiding the insurgents with logistical support.

The statement emphasized the recovery of key materials commonly used to manufacture Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), including large quantities of liquid fertiliser and insecticides seized from the suspects.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Army’s statement read, “In a significant victory against Boko Haram remnants, 15 exhausted fighters, accompanied by their families, surrendered to Nigerian troops in the Gwoza and Bama Local Government Areas of Borno State.

Additionally, two suspected terrorist logistics suppliers were arrested in Azir village, Damboa Local Government Area.”

Further military actions led to the capture of another Boko Haram logistics operative transporting drugs to terrorist hideouts in Mainahari village.

In a separate operation in Zamfara State, troops swiftly rescued a BUA Company driver who had been kidnapped at Maraban Kyaware in Tsafe Local Government Area.

During the operation, soldiers engaged the kidnappers in a firefight, recovering an AK-47 rifle loaded with 9 rounds of ammunition and successfully rescuing the hostage.

Similarly, in Kebbi State, eight hostages were freed after a fierce battle with kidnappers, marking yet another successful rescue mission.

Acting on intelligence reports in Benue State, troops arrested a wanted criminal at Gban Market in Guma Local Government Area, recovering three rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, four ATM cards, and ₦6,750 in cash.

These operations are part of ongoing efforts by the Nigerian Army to weaken the operational capacity of insurgent groups and restore peace across affected regions.
