Boko Haram terrorists on Wednesday launched another daring attack on Jiddari Polo, a community in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital shortly after President Muhammadu Buhari‘s departure.
Ekohotblog reports that President Buhari departed Borno State on Wednesday evening where he went to pay a condolence visit following the deadly attack on Sunday which left at least 30 people dead and several cars, houses and other property destroyed.
It was gathered that residents of Jiddari Polo in Maiduguri, Borno state capital, are currently running for cover following an attack launched by Boko Haram fighters.
President Buhari headed straight to Borno State on Wednesday to pay a condolence visit after he returned from Ethiopia where he attended the African Union (AU) summit.
According to TheCable, shortly after President Buhari left, Boko Haram attacked another community in Maiduguri, the state capital, shooting sporadically for over 30 minutes.
“We are under serious attack right now. Boko Haram stormed the town hours after the president left,” a resident told TheCable.
Ekohotblog recalls that President Buhari while speaking earlier at the palace of Abubakar Elkanemi, the Shehu of Borno, declared that Boko Haram could not exist without local support.
“This Boko Haram or whatever they are, cannot come up to Maiduguri or environs without the local leadership knowing because traditionally the local leadership is in charge of security in their own respective areas. So with my understanding of our culture, I wonder how Boko Haram survives up till now,” he had said.
