EKO HOT BLOG reports that the historic win was sealed in the 53rd minute by Swiss international Dan Ndoye, whose goal handed Bologna their first silverware since 1974 and only their third Coppa Italia title in history.
Jubilant scenes followed as Bologna’s players, led by captain Lorenzo De Silvestri and forward Riccardo Orsolini, lifted the trophy in front of ecstatic fans.
This triumph also marks a personal milestone for coach Vincenzo Italiano, who secured his first major honour after three unsuccessful final appearances with Fiorentina, including a 2023 Coppa Italia loss. Since taking over from Thiago Motta, Italiano has breathed new life into the historic club, which last won the Italian league title in 1964.
Bologna’s return to prominence has been widely celebrated, with their supporters dancing and shedding tears of joy in the stands. For many fans, the victory represents a dream come true—one they feared they might never witness in their lifetimes.
AC Milan, once a dominant force in Italian and European football, continue to struggle for form. Their last Coppa Italia win came in 2003, the same year they lifted the UEFA Champions League title during the era of ownership under the late Silvio Berlusconi.
With their cup hopes dashed, Milan now face a tough challenge in the Serie A as they battle to secure European qualification. The team, managed by Sergio Conceicao, sit eighth in the league, trailing Roma—currently in the UEFA Conference League spot—by three points. The Rossoneri will aim to bounce back when they visit Roma in a crucial fixture on Sunday.
Bologna Win Italian Cup
Bologna’s emotional triumph has been hailed as a victory for patience, resilience, and inspired coaching—reminding Italian football that underdogs can still create history.
