Boniface Makes Bundesliga 2023/24 Team Of The Season Shortlist

Eko Hot Blog reports that Super Eagles forward l, Victor Boniface, is thrilled to be nominated for a spot in the 2023/24 Bundesliga Team of the Season.

The league’s website released the list of nominees on Wednesday, and Bayer Leverkusen, Boniface’s club, shared their eight players who made the shortlist on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Thursday.

“He scores goals, Boniface!” the club wrote on their social media account.

Boniface reposted the post from his club and added, “Not bad for my first season.”

Boniface and Bayer Leverkusen crowned Bundesliga Champions

The 23-year-old was included in the shortlist alongside five goalkeepers, 10 defenders, 15 midfielders and nine other attackers.

According to the statement on the German top-flight website, all nominated players were selected based on their performance on official Bundesliga statistics.

Boniface secured a spot on the list despite being sidelined for three months due to a groin injury sustained while preparing for the African Cup of Nations with the Super Eagles in January.

The Nigeria international didn’t make his comeback for Bayer Leverkusen until April.

Despite this, he managed to amass an impressive record of 11 goals and nine assists in 18 league matches, helping Leverkusen secure their first-ever Bundesliga title with five games remaining, all while maintaining an unbeaten streak.

Additionally, Boniface earned recognition as the Bundesliga Rookie of the Month for five consecutive months from August to December 2023.
