Borno Bomb Explosion: Senate Blames Security Forces

On Wednesday, July 3, the Senate attributed the recent suicide bombings in Gwoza town, Borno State, to a failure of intelligence by security forces.

Eko Hot Blog reports that Senate President Godswill Akpabio made this statement during his contribution to the debate on a motion concerning the incident, which was sponsored by the Chief Whip of the Senate, Mohammed Ali Ndume, during the plenary session.

In his lead debate, Ndume identified the Mandara Mountains, Sambisa Forest, and the Lake Chad region as the remaining strongholds of terrorists.

The lawmakers noted that relying solely on conventional methods, such as troop deployment, seemed ineffective as terrorists continued to employ unconventional tactics to kill Nigerians and destroy their means of livelihood.
