Additionally, the board prohibited the use of pedestrian walkways, junctions, and roundabouts for any form of activity, including the sale of engine oil on road reservations.

The dumping of sand, building materials, or mixing of cement on roadsides, as well as the construction of boreholes along the roads, have also been banned.

Mustapha further emphasized that those violating the ban had been directed to vacate the affected areas immediately. He warned that the board would take strict legal action, including arrest and prosecution, against defaulters.

“The board has no alternative but to arrest and prosecute defaulters in a court of law,” Mustapha said, stressing that the initiative aims to ensure a clean, safe, and organized urban environment in Maiduguri and across Borno State.

He urged residents and business owners to comply with the new regulations to avoid legal consequences. The move is part of the state’s ongoing efforts to maintain order and improve the living conditions in its urban areas.
