After recording 4 cases and 1 death, Botswana’s president, Eric Masisi has declared a 28-day lockdown in the country to curb the Coronavirus pandemic.
The death was that of a 79-year-old woman who developed high fever upon her return from South Africa.
She died few days after being kept under mandatory quarantine.
Prior to this, the president himself had gone into a two-week self-isolation after an official visit to Namibia last month.

At the time of his visit, Namibia had recorded cases but Botswana was virus-free.
He tested negative after undergoing a test as a precautionary measure.
It is notable to say that citizens are complying with the directive without physical enforcement from security operatives.
Botswana is one of the most peaceful countries in the world with very well behaved citizens.
