Bournemouth Poised To Secure Kepa On Loan From Chelsea
Bournemouth have secured a season-long loan for Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.
This move likely ends Bournemouth’s pursuit of Arsenal keeper Aaron Ramsdale, and it could also lead to Mark Travers leaving the club before the transfer deadline on Friday.
Kepa, 29, has also extended his Chelsea contract until the end of the 2026 season. His original deal was set to expire in June 2025, which would have allowed him to leave Chelsea for free after his loan spell at Bournemouth.

Kepa remains the world’s most expensive goalkeeper, having joined Chelsea from Athletic Bilbao for £71 million in 2018. He has been training separately from Chelsea’s first-team squad under manager Enzo Maresca, with no future at Stamford Bridge.
The Spanish international spent last season on loan at Real Madrid, where he made 20 appearances as a stand-in for the injured Thibaut Courtois, helping the team win La Liga and the Champions League. Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti was interested in re-signing Kepa, but it hinged on Andriy Lunin leaving the club.

Kepa also turned down a permanent move to Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad in July.
In related news, Chelsea has signed Belgian teenage goalkeeper Mike Penders for £17 million from Genk, though he will join the club at the start of next season. Additionally, Saudi Pro League club Al-Ettifaq, managed by Steven Gerrard, are in advanced talks to sign Chelsea’s versatile attacker Harvey Vale. A club-to-club agreement is mostly in place, and Vale now needs to decide whether to make the move.
