Brazilian Influencer, Lygia Fazio Dies After Botched Buttocks Surgery

EKO HOT BLOG reports that in a tragic incident that has shocked her followers and the online community, popular Brazilian influencer and reporter, Lygia Fazio, aged 40, passed away on May 31 due to complications arising from a buttock enhancement surgery. Fazio had been hospitalized since the beginning of May after undergoing a procedure where silicone and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) were injected into her buttocks.

The surgery was reportedly performed by an individual who claimed to be a nurse, as per reports by DailyMail.

Fazio, who boasted nearly one million followers on her Instagram account, had previously used her platform to raise awareness about the risks and dangers associated with surgical procedures aimed at altering one’s appearance. However, she herself fell victim to the allure of cosmetic enhancements after her boyfriend convinced her to seek a more substantial change to her buttocks.

The influencer’s family revealed that Fazio had been in intensive care for four weeks following the surgery, during which her condition deteriorated. Tragically, it is believed that she suffered a stroke, leading to her untimely demise. Fazio leaves behind two young boys, aged 2 and 11, who are now left to mourn the loss of their beloved mother.

Fazio’s brother, George Oliveira, expressed his grief and shared his thoughts on his sister’s tragic passing.

In an interview with Revista Quem, Oliveira attributed Fazio’s death to the immense pressure she faced after joining television networks Rede TV and Record TV. He explained how she found herself immersed in a toxic environment that prioritized unrealistic beauty standards, which ultimately led her to undergo multiple procedures to conform to those ideals.

Oliveira revealed that Fazio initially underwent a buttock lift performed by a doctor. However, when she sought additional silicone injections, the same doctor refused to carry out the procedure. Subsequently, Fazio resorted to the services of an individual claiming to be a nurse, who administered the injections at a friend’s residence.

This was not the first time Fazio had encountered complications from aesthetic procedures.

Three years prior, she began experiencing problems associated with silicone spread throughout her body, leading to her hospitalization for over 100 days in 2021. Despite the challenges, Fazio remained positive and saw her experience as an opportunity to raise awareness and educate others.

Throughout her journey, Fazio underwent a total of seven surgeries in an attempt to rectify the complications caused by the initial procedure. However, the continuous use of corticosteroids took a toll on her health, resulting in hypercalcemia and kidney overload, ultimately necessitating dialysis.

Her condition further deteriorated when she was diagnosed with fungal endocarditis, with doctors suspecting that the bacteria may have spread to her brain, leading to the stroke that claimed her life.

Fazio’s tragic passing serves as a grim reminder of the risks associated with elective cosmetic procedures. As her family mourns the loss of a beloved daughter, sister, and mother, her story has sparked conversations about the importance of informed decision-making, thorough research, and prioritizing one’s health and well-being over societal pressures.

As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with Fazio’s death.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the surgery and the individuals involved.
