BREAKING: Plane Carrying 58 Passengers Crashes, Many Feared Dead

A plane carrying 58 passengers and four crew members has crashed in the Brazilian state of São Paulo.

The aircraft, a twin-engine turboprop operated by Voepass airline, was en route from Cascavel in Paraná to São Paulo’s main airport when it tragically went down in the town of Vinhedo.

Videos circulating on social media captured the horrifying moment as the plane descended rapidly, spiralling uncontrollably before impact.

Voepass Airlines confirmed the crash but stated, “There is still no confirmation of how the accident occurred or the current situation of the people on board.”

Local officials reported that the plane crashed into a residential building, igniting a large fire. Brazilian network GloboNews aired footage showing extensive damage and thick smoke billowing from the wreckage in the densely populated area.

Emergency services, including police and firefighters, quickly responded to the scene, and local hospitals were placed on high alert.

Flight tracking website Flightradar24 reported that the plane, built in 2010, departed Cascavel at 11:56 AM local time (14:56 GMT). The final signal from the aircraft was recorded about an hour and a half into the flight.

In response to the tragedy, Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva paused an event to hold a minute’s silence. He later expressed his condolences on social media, stating, “Very sad. All my solidarity to the families and friends of the victims.”
