BREAKING: Abramovich Finally Puts Chelsea Up For Sale

• Chelsea billionaire owner, Roman Abramovich has put the club up for sale and has set his asking price at £4 billion.

• This is following the decision of Russian President, Vladimir Putin, to go to war with neighbouring Ukraine.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the European Union, EU, are seizing assets belonging to Russians and the Russian government as part of their sanctions on the country.

The 55-year-old, who has owned the Premier League side since 2003, over the weekend distanced himself from the Blues, by handing over his “stewardship and care” to the trustees of Chelsea’s charitable Foundation.

The UK Government has faced calls to freeze Abramovich’s assets, as well as anyone who allegedly has ties with President Vladimir Putin, as part of its sanctions against Russia.
Abramovich has rejected multiple offers to sell Chelsea in the past.

But according to The UK Telegraph, he is now actively looking to sell the club.

However, the report claims that the Russian billionaire, who bought Chelsea for £140 million nearly 19 years ago, is expected to receive offers in the region of £2 billion.

Swiss billionaire Hansjorg Wyss claimed that he, along with three others, has received a proposal to buy Chelsea from Abramovich.

This is coming few days after Roman Abramovich handed the club over to a charitable organisation as a way of preventing the club from being taken over by the UK government.

In his statement, he said;
“During my nearly 20-year ownership of Chelsea FC, I have always viewed my role as a custodian of the Club, whose job it is ensuring that we are as successful as we can be today, as well as build for the future, while also playing a positive role in our communities.

“I have always taken decisions with the Club’s best interest at heart. I remain committed to these values.

That is why I am today giving trustees of Chelsea’s charitable Foundation the stewardship and care of Chelsea FC.
“I believe that currently, they are in the best position to look after the interests of the Club, players, staff, and fans.”

However, Abramovich has sensationally given up control of the club amid the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

And Swiss Billionaire Hansjorg Wyss confirmed that he alongside others have received an offer to take over the reigns of the West London outfit.
