Hudu Yunusa Ari, for electoral malpractice during the Adamawa Governorship election.

EDITOR’S PICK

During the election, the suspended REC was accused of usurping the powers of the Chief Returning Officer and unilaterally declaring the All Progressives Congress (APC) Candidate, Senator Aisha Dahiru Binani, as duly elected when collation had not been concluded. As a result, the INEC summoned the REC and the returning officer to its headquarters in Abuja and subsequently barred him from its office.

At its meeting held on today, 18th April, the Commission decided to write to the Inspector-General of Police for an immediate investigation and possible prosecution of the REC. It also requested the Secretary to the Government of the Federation to draw the attention of the appointing authority to the unwholesome behavior of the REC for further action.
