Governor Akeredolu of Ondo State has banned the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and the Road Transport Employees Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) with immediate effect.
Akeredolu also directed taxi drivers to revert to the old rate of N50 per drop.
The senior special assistant to the governor on special duties and strategy, Doyin Odebowale, made the announcement while addressing newsmen in Akure on Monday.
Odebowale attributed the suspension to the recent crisis within the unions over leadership tussles.
