[BREAKING] Alleged Fraud: Court Grants Former JAMB Registrar, Ojerinde, Bail
- The court ordered that Ojerinde must deposit his international passport with the court registrar.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has granted the former Registrar of Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof Adedibu Ojerinde, bail.
The Federal High Court granted Ojerinde bail on Thursday in the sum of N200 million with two sureties in like sum.
According to the bail terms, one surety must be a professor in a Federal University in Nigeria while the other must be a property owner in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
EKO HOT BLOG gathered that the court also stated that the residence of the sureties must be verified.
The court further ordered that Ojerinde must deposit his international passport with the court registrar.
The case was thereafter adjourned to July 22 and 23, 2021, for trial.

Justice Obiora Egwuatu, in a ruling, ordered that Ojerinde be kept in a correctional facility pending the hearing of his bail application, scheduled for July 8.
Justice Egwuatu gave the ruling after the former JAMB Registrar was arraigned on an 18-count charge, marked: FHC/ABJ/CR/97/2021, in which he was accused, among others, of complicity in the diversion of public funds estimated at over N5.2billion.
The prosecuting agency, the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission(ICPC), said Ojerinde committed the alleged offences, contained in the charge, from 2003 when he served as the Registrar of the National Examination Council (NECO) till 2021.
The former JAMB Registrar, however, pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to him.
