Popular Nollywood actress, Ashabi Ayantunde well known as Iya Ife, is dead.
The Yoruba actress was said to have passed away on Sunday evening in Ile Ife, Osun State.
It was gathered that the late Iya Ife died after a brief illness that lasted for one week.
As gathered by EKO HOT BLOG, the death of the actress was confirmed by the Theater Arts And Motion Pictures Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN).
“She fell sick last week and she was taken to Ile-Ife, Osun State before she died yesterday (Sunday) evening. May Her Soul Rest in Peace,” a colleague said.
Iya Ife was a member of the professional body well known in the Oshodi-Isolo branch.
Iya Ife didn’t produce a film of her own before passing away but had featured in several films that include Oro Aye, Terror, Atidade Kinihun, Afefe, Onibara Aje, Olori, Old Soja and Ogbologbo.
She died barely 48 hours after the death of veteran actor, Bruno Iwuoha.
