The residents of Onueke in Ezra South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State were thrown into pandemonium as unknown gunmen stormed the town on Tuesday.
The assailants were said to be shooting sporadically and robbing some businesses in the community.
According to a source, the gunmen trailed a customer to a bank in the area, adding that they shot indiscriminately in the air, causing customers and workers to scamper for safety.
The source further disclosed that the gunmen shot the man they trailed to the bank.
It was however not clear whether the man was alive or dead.
The source noted they did not enter the bank as their interest seemed to be the man.

The source revealed that the unknown gunmen moved from the bank to some businesses in the area which they robbed, noting that they entered a provision store and carted away some cartons of drinks.
According to the source, the gunmen moved to a nearby drinks shop where they robbed them of their money.
They also reportedly went to a nearby filling station and carted away all the money made from the day’s sales.
It was further learnt that security operatives later arrived and engaged the gunmen in a shootout which made them to leave the area.
Police spokesperson in the state, Loveth Odah, could not be reached for comment as of the time of writing this report.
