There was panic around Iyano Iba market, situated a few meters from the Lagos State University, on Monday as sounds of gunshots rented the air.
Eyewitness accounts revealed that sporadic gunshots were heard as security operatives made efforts to bring the situation under control.

The clash was said to have occurred between some motorcycle riders and the members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in the area.
EKO HOT BLOG gathered that the crisis has forced the management of the institution to close the gates of the school as students and staff have been urged to remain within the premises.
While reacting to the violence, the Lagos State Police spokesperson, Adejobi Olumuyiwa, said normalcy has returned to the area.
“Normalcy has been restored to Iyana Iba, Okokomaiko and the axis. We are on top of the situation.
“No ethnic colouration. Everyone should continue his or her business. No cause for alarm. We will update you with the details soon,” he said.
