EKO HOT BLOG reports that the gubernatorial candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River state, Senator Bassey Otu has been declared the winner of the election held on March 18.
Professor Teddy Charles Adias, the Returning Officer (RO), announced Otu as the winner on Monday afternoon.
Otu who was declared the winner of the election garnered 258, 619 votes to defeat Senator Sandy Onor of the main opposition, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 179,636.
The governor-elect won 15 Local Government Areas (LGAs) out of the 18 LGAs while Onor won the remaining three LGAs.
The incumbent governor, Ben Ayade sent a congratulatory message to his imminent successor.
“Congratulations Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu, Governor-elect Cross River State. Congratulations to the APC family in Cross River State!” Ayade wrote on his verified Facebook page.
