BREAKING: Armed Robbers Hijack Case File Of Sunday Igboho’s Supporters ― DSS Lawyer

  • DSS lawyer has said that armed robbers have hijacked the case file of Sunday Igboho’s supporters.

EKOHOTBLOG reports that the lawyer for the Department of State Service (DSS), I. Awo, on Wednesday, told the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja that the case file relating to the Fundamental Human Rights Enforcement application filed by the aides to Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, fondly known as Sunday Igboho, was stolen by armed robbers.

The DSS lawyer told Justice Obiora Egwuatu that his colleague who was to bring the case file to the court boarded a vehicle belonging to armed robbers popularly known as ‘one chance’.

Awo, who applied for an adjournment on Wednesday, added that his colleague’s belongings including the case file were hijacked by the assailants.

EKOHOTBLOG recalls that the counsel for the supporters of the Yoruba rights activist had issued an ultimatum to the DSS to release the detained aides, who were arrested at Igboho’s Ibadan residence in the Soka area on July 1, 2021.

The supporters of Sunday Igboho had met their bail conditions including the provision of 24 sureties but the DSS lawyer, Idowu Awo, kicked against the bail granted by Justice Egwuatu of the Federal High Court in Abuja to four of the detainees.

The DSS lawyer had claimed that the detainees were heavily involved in the alleged offence of arms stockpiling and other criminal activities of Igboho.

Awo had also filed a remand application for the four detainees saying their release would affect investigation.

The DSS lawyer further approached an Appeal Court sitting in Abuja to revoke the bail earlier granted to the four detainees.

However, the DSS has so far released 10 supporters of Sunday Igboho contrary to an order of the court that granted bail to the arrested 12 aides of the Yoruba Nation agitator in the custody of the secret police.

The two persons yet to regain freedom from the DSS custody include Lady K and one other.
