Arsenal Set To Table £100 Million Bid For Declan Rice
The 31-year-old will join on an initial 18-month contract with the option to extend by a further year.
Arsenal had been keen to add a central midfielder to the squad after a long-term injury to Mohamed Elneny left them short in the middle of the park.
Moises Caicedo had been their main target, but after being rejected in two bids for the Ecuadorian the Gunners eventually backed off from the deal.
Arsenal were keen to respect Brighton’s stance and insist they had nothing to do with Caicedo’s public pleas for a move on social media.
After accepting that a deal for Caicedo was not going to happen, the Gunners then pivoted towards a deal for Jorginho, who Chelsea were willing to let leave ahead of the potential arrival of Enzo Fernandez.
The move for Jorginho is not thought to impact Arsenal’s long-standing interest in Declan Rice.
