BREAKING: Banks, Schools, Shops Shut In Imo Over IPOB’s Sit-At-Home Order

  • IPOB’s Sit-at-home order has led to the shut of banks, schools, and shops in Imo State.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that commercial activities were paralysed in Owerri, the Imo State capital on Monday following the sit-at-home order by the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

The IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, had through the group Director of Media and Publicity, Emma Powerful, ordered the restriction of human and vehicular movement across the South-East on Monday to commemorate the 54th anniversary of Biafra.

Reacting, the Imo State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, and the police had earlier asked the people to ignore the sit-at-home order by IPOB.

However, EKO HOT BLOG gathered that schools, shops, commercial banks, malls, were all shut in Owerri, the state capital, in the early hours of Monday.

It was further learnt that commercial and private vehicles deserted the roads in the state capital for fear of being shot by the IPOB operatives.

The Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, could not be reached for comment as of the time of writing this report.
