A Buhari-must-go protest has rocked Lagos State on Friday.

 

EKOHOTBLOG reports that many protesters, on Friday, stormed the Gani Fawehinmi Park in Ojota, Lagos State, calling for the resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The protesters under the banner of #TakeItBack Movement and #RevolutionNow stormed the venue on Friday, chanting and displaying banners and placards that read, ‘Buhari Must Go’.

 

EKOHOTBLOG reports that the demonstrators registered their displeasure against insecurity, poor economy, lawlessness, and other challenges bewildering the country.

 

This online news platform understands that the protest coincided with the Nigeria’s 61st Independence Anniversary on Friday, October 1, 2021.

 

It would be recalled that the Lagos State Police Command during the week said no official letter had been received to notify the Command of any protest, adding that it ought to be notified so security could be provided to prevent miscreants from taking advantage of the demonstration.

Meanwhile, security operatives including RRS officers with over 10 Hilux vehicles of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have arrived at the venue of the protest.

Security operatives were also stationed around Maryland axis to forestall any breakdown of law and order.

Speaking to newsmen, a constitutional lawyer and human rights activist, Festus Ogun, said, “Nigerians are still in bondage, there is bad governance, unemployment, poverty and anger in the land.

“This is a reflection of how bad we’ve been treated. What we are agitating for today is an end to bad governance and insecurity, and the betterment in the situation of the country,” the activist stated.
