BREAKING: Buhari Receives Gbenga Daniel, Dimeji Bankole In Aso Rock

Former Governor of Ogun State, Gbenga Daniel, and former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole, have been admitted into President Muhammadu Buhari’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to Eko hot blog, Daniel was a former presidential campaign manager for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar during the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primary election in 2019.

He was also the governor of Ogun State from 1999 to 2007, and the PDP’s Speaker of the House of Representatives from 2007 to 2011.

 

On Monday, President Muhammadu Buhari and his Chief of Staff, Ibrahim Gambari, welcomed both politicians into the APC at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The Governor of Yobe, Mai Mala Buni, the Chairman of the APC’s Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), and the Governors of Jigawa State, Mohammed Badaru, and Kebbi, Atiku Bagudu, accompanied them to the villa.

Recall that Daniel stated that his decision to decamp was prompted by his support for Governor Dapo Abiodun, and that it was accelerated by the request of the APC’s national caretaker chairman to visit him with three governors.

”Dear Friends & Colleagues, pardon my short notice in informing you of my route to the APC, which as you may have guessed began with my supporting Governor, Dapo Abiodun during the last election,” he had said.

”Since then, I’ve received an avalanche of encouragement to join the team.

“However, things have moved at breakneck speed in the last 48 hours, with the APC National Chairman’s decision to visit me at Asoludero on Wednesday with about three governors. Governor Abiodun decided to visit me later today with another group of Governors while planning the visit. As a result, it means I’ve finally been ‘captured.’
