EKOHOTBLOG reports that the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has called on political parties to shelve the plans of Christian/Christian ticket or Muslim/Muslim presidential ticket in the 2023 general election.
The Association gave the warning through its President, Samson Ayokunle, on Thursday.
Ayokunle, who spoke to newsmen when the CAN leadership met with the Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, at the National Assembly on Thursday, cautioned politicians not to heat up the polity with utterances as campaigns commence.
The CAN President further enjoined the politicians to always remember there is already tension across Nigeria due to insecurity, saying, “We urge that a balance of both religious practitioners be considered. We don’t want Christian/Christian ticket nor Muslim/Muslim ticket.”
