EKO HOT BLOG reports that there is ongoing civil unrest at the Gani Fawehinmi Park in the Ojota area of Lagos after the Nigerian Police tried to disrupt a peaceful rally of the Yoruba Nation.
The social media has been set agog with panic posts, some accompanied by video clips of the chaotic scenes.
It was gathered that multiple gunshots were fired, and a vehicle burnt as people scampered for safety.
At the time of filing this report, two people have been confirmed dead.
Separatists of the Yoruba Nation held their “super mega rally,” which led to a confrontation with security operatives.
Men of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command were immediately mobilised to restore calm to Ojoto and its environs.
This newspaper obtained audio made by the Yoruba Nation lead agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as ‘Igboho,’ who encouraged proponents of the secessionist movement to come out en masse for the Ojota rally.
