BREAKING: Commuters Stranded As Drivers Protest Alleged Extortion By LASTMA, Task Force
- Commuters were on Monday stranded in Lagos as commercial bus drivers protested alleged extortion by LASTMA, and Task Force.
EKOHOTBLOG reports that commuters along the Ikorodu Road were in the early hours of Monday stranded following protest by commercial bus drivers over alleged extortion by operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation and Special Offences Unit (Task Force), and the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).
It was gathered that several commuters heading to Jibowu, Maryland, and Ikeja axis had to trek long distances as the commercial drivers parked their buses along the Onipanu/Palm groove axis.
A commercial driver, who declined to be named, said they were protesting daily seizure of their buses and extortion by the operatives of the Task Force and LASTMA.
Also speaking on the development, a commuter said the “drivers and owners of the buses have been at the mercy of Task Force, and LASTMA for a long time.”
Meanwhile, the accused agencies could not be reached for comment on the development as of the time of filing this report.
