BREAKING: Court Adjourns Trial Of Baba Ijesha

  • Court has adjourned the trial of Nollywood actor, Baba Ijesha.

EKOHOTBLOG reports that the trial of popular Nollywood actor, Olanrewaju Omiyinka fondly called Baba Ijesha, has been adjourned.

It was gathered that the trial of the embattled actor at the Lagos Special Offences Court in Ikeja, was adjourned due to the long vacation of the judges.

EKOHOTBLOG reports that the trial of Baba Ijesha was earlier scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday (August 11 and 12, 2021).

In a notice seen by EKOHOTBLOG, the judges will be on vacation till the third week of September 2021.

The latest development is coming after Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo, at the last sitting, adjourned the matter to August 11 and 12 for the continuation of trial.

However, the case has been adjourned to September 27, 2021.

As gathered by EKOHOTBLOG, the adjournment of the trial was confirmed by the court registrar, Ibrahim Hassan, noting that the judges have gone on a “retreat”.

The embattled Nollywood actor was arrested by the Lagos State Police Command on April 22, 2021, for allegedly assaulting a 14-year-old girl.

EKOHOTBLOG reports that Baba Ijesha was charged on six-count charges of sexual assault by penetration, indecent treatment of a child, and sexual assault, which contravene sections 259, 135, and 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011, as well as 135, 263, and 262 Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
