Cross River state have recorded its first COVID-19 case since the outbreak of the virus in Nigeria and globally.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) made this announcement on Monday while giving a general daily update on Twitter.
The NCDC announced that the state recorded five cases, which is the first time it is recording any positive case since the pandemic started.

According to the highlight, 575 new cases we’re reported from 20 states including, Lagos(123), FCT(100), Delta(58), Edo(52), Ogun(42), Katsina(24), Bayelsa(23), Rivers(22), Borno(19), Plateau(18), Ondo(18), Oyo(17), Kwara(15), Osun(13), Enugu(9), Nasarawa (7), Abia(6), Cross River(5), Kaduna(3), Ekiti(1).
This brings the total record to 29,286 cases with 11,828 cases discharged and 654 deaths recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
The NCDC however noted that amid the rise in confirmed cases, the country has also recorded 9 new COVID-19 deaths.
