BREAKING: DSS Files Fresh Remand Application Against Sunday Igboho’s Aides

  • DSS has filed a fresh remand application against Sunday Igboho’s aides.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Department of State Services (DSS) has filed a remand application at the Federal High Court in Abuja against the detained aides of popular Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo fondly known as Sunday Igboho.

The DSS, in the remand application, is asking the court to nullify the bail earlier granted to four of the 12 detained associates of Sunday Igboho.

It was gathered that in the motion no FHC/ABJ/CS/647/2021, filed on Monday by the DSS lawyer, Idowu Awo, the secret police urged Justice Obiora Egwuatu of the Federal High Court to cancel the bail granted to Amudat Babatunde, Abideen Shittu, Jamiu Oyetunji, and Bamidele Sunday.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the DSS lawyer urged the court to remand the four detainees “pending their arraignment during court vacation”.

However, the lawyer to the detainees, Pelumi Olajengbesi, while reacting to the latest development, said the remand application by the DSS was “laughable”.

He said, “We have seen the new application filed by the DSS to continue the incarceration of innocent people that have been in their custody for over a month.

“It is laughable and turned logic upside down that after over a month in the DSS custody, the DSS still needs more days to punish them. I can assure you this will fail,” Olajengbesi said.

It would be recalled that the Federal High Court had last Wednesday admitted the 12 applicants to bail after spending five weeks in DSS custody.

EKO HOT BLOG recalls that the DSS had raided Igboho’s Ibadan residence in the Soka area on July 1, 2021, arrested about 12 of his aides, and killed two of them in a gun battle.

The supporters of Sunday Igboho were later moved to Abuja where they have since been in detention.
