EKOHOTBLOG reports that the Department of State Security (DSS) has released eight detained supporters of Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo well known as Sunday Igboho, to their lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi.
It was gathered that the detained supporters of the Yoruba rights activist were released on Monday to their lawyer after the DSS failed to comply with the court ruling on the matter.
It would be recalled that Olajengbesi had issued an ultimatum to the DSS to release the detained aides, who were arrested at Igboho’s Ibadan residence in the Soka area on July 1, 2021.

EKOHOTBLOG recalls that Justice Obiora Egwuatu of the Federal High Court had on July 23, 2021, ordered the DSS to produce the detainees in court on July 29 but the secret police only produced 8 of the detained 12 supporters of Sunday Igboho.
However, the aides, it was learnt, were released to their lawyer on Monday following the threat of filing a case of contempt against the DSS.
It would be further recalled that the DSS, on July 1, 2021, raided the residence of Sunday Igboho in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, and arrested about 12 of his aides.
The secret police also killed two of the aides in a gun battle.
The supporters of the Yoruba secessionist leader were later moved to Abuja where they have since been in detention.
