The Governor Godwin Obaseki has clinched the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Edo State governorship election.
Obaseki emergence as the party’sccandidate is sequel to the withdrawal of Obaseki’s main challenger, Kenneth Imasuagbon, ftom the race.
This means Obaseki will emerged the party’s flag bearer unopposed.
He stepped down for Obaseki as delegates were making their ways to Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin for the indirect primary election.
It’s learnt that Obaseki and Imasuagbon had met in the early hours of Thursday in Government House, Benin behind closed doors.
Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama and Gideon Ikhine had stepped down for Obaseki, who defected to PDP from the All Progressives Congress (APC) last Friday before getting waiver by members of the National Working Committee (NWC) to contest in the primary.
The PDP’s governorship primary is mere formality as Obaseki is unopposed.
