  • The family of Gani Fawehinmi has revealed the cause of his first son’s death.

EKOHOTBLOG reports that the family of late Chief Gani Fawehinmi has disclosed that the first son of the late human rights lawyer, Mohammed Fawehinmi, died from COVID-19 related complications.

The family made the disclosure at a briefing in Lagos on Thursday.

EKOHOTBLOG had reported that Mohammed Fawehinmi was taken to General Hospital in the Gbagada area of Lagos State where he was confirmed dead.

Mohammed, who was a lawyer like his father, died at the age of 52.

However, Saheed Fawehinmi, the second son of Chief Gani Fawehinmi, who spoke on behalf of the family on Thursday, said, “The family could not immediately disclose the cause of our brother’s death because we wanted the information to be based on factual medical details especially as may be contained in the death certificate.

“Today, however, we are in a position to inform you that our dear brother died from COVID-19 related complications,” he disclosed.

Mohammed Fawehinmi, a graduate of Business Administration of the University of Lagos (1991), obtained an LLB degree from the University of Buckingham, England, and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1998.

In 2003, he was involved in a car accident that affected his spinal cord and confined him to a wheelchair.
