EKOHOTBLOG reports that the Federal Government (FG) has approved the right to 14-day paternity leave for male civil servants in the country.
The approval of the paternity leave was made known by the Head of Service of the Federation, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, while briefing newsmen after the virtual Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Wednesday.
The FEC meeting was presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The Head of Service noted that the paternity leave was to enable proper bonding between the father and a newborn, either natural-born or adopted, especially at the early stages of the child’s life.
Mrs. Yemi -Esan added that fathers of adopted babies of less than four months will also enjoy the gesture approved for federal civil servants across the country.
