A former Chief of Defence Staff, Joshua Dogonyaro, is dead.
This was made known by the first son of the deceased, Joseph, on Thursday.
EKO HOT BLOG gathered that Dogonyaro died at the age of 80.
According to him, “Daddy has been sick for some time until yesterday when he had a stroke and we rushed him to the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) for medical attention.
“Unfortunately, early this morning (Thursday), around 3.00am precisely, he breathed his last.
“His death comes as a rude shock to us as a family. We are going to miss his love and warm as a grandfather, father, brother, uncle and supporter,” Joseph disclosed.
He added that the family was trying to cope with the shock of the general’s demise, noting that the funeral arrangements would be discussed soon.

Joseph described his father as “a General who was so faithful and loyal to the nation, Nigeria.”
He further disclosed that the corpse of the ex-Chief of Defence has since been deposited at the JUTH mortuary.
Dogonyaro was born on September 12, 1940, in Vom, Plateau State, though a native of Taroh in Langtang North Local Government Area.
He had his early education at Boys’ Secondary School, Gindiri, and thereafter enlisted in the Nigerian Army in 1964.
Dogonyaro was also one of the staunch anti-democracy generals who supported the annulment of the June 12, 1993 election, which denied the winner, Chief MKO Abiola, the presidency after overwhelming support from a large section of Nigerians, who voted in an election widely believed to be free and fair.
Dogonyaro served in many capacities before his retirement from the military.
