Caleb Olubolade, a former military administrator of Bayelsa State and minister of special duties under the administration of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has died at the age of 70.
The news of his passing was made public on Sunday, following his death in the Apapa area of Lagos, Nigeria.

According to a statement issued by his children, Akinadewo and Dayo Olubolade, the former minister reportedly collapsed while at a lawn tennis facility.
“He drove himself to the facility to play lawn tennis in the evening and slumped while playing. Efforts were made by medical officers around to revive him to no avail,” the statement reads.
He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Obisesan Naval Medical Hospital in Apapa, according to reports. The news comes as a shock to the public, as Olubolade had only recently celebrated his 70th birthday on November 30, 2024.
Throughout his career, Olubolade made significant contributions to Nigeria’s public service sector.
