Former governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi, has passed away.
EkoHotBlog learnt that 70-year-old Ajimobi had been on a life support machine since last Friday at First Cardiology Hospital in Ikoyi, Lagos, after slipping into a coma following Coronavirus complications.
According to a source who is familiar with the situation, the former governor finally died on Thursday.
According to SaharaReporters, the former Oyo governor had a lung surgery and was rushed to the Lagos hospital but made no progress while his kidneys had also failed.
Doctors treating Ajimobi, it was reliably gathered, last Friday told his family that his medical situation was beyond redemption and only a divine intervention could bring him back to life.
You recall that there was speculation about Ajimobi’s death last week but the family quelled the rumour saying the former governor was alive.
Ajimobi was also appointed the All Progressives Congress acting national chairman following appeal court affirmation of the suspension of substanstive chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.
However, Victor Giadom declared himself the acting national chairman, a development that lit the tinderbox of crisis that shook the party to its roots.
