BREAKING: Four Feared Dead As Gunmen Raze Police Station In Imo

EKO HOT BLOG reports that no fewer than four persons have been feared dead following an attack by unknown gunmen on the police station in Orlu, Imo State.

This was disclosed via a statement by the Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Mike Abattam, on Friday.

According to the police spokesperson, the gunmen, on Thursday, razed Orlu police station and killed one police inspector.

Abattam further noted that three of the gunmen were also killed in a gun battle with the police operatives.

He added that the gunmen in their numbers at about 9.35 pm on Thursday, attacked and threw explosives and petrol bombs on top of the roof of Orlu police station, damaged the roof and caused a fire outbreak in the station, adding that the inferno affected some of the vehicles on the parking lot.

The police spokesperson stated further that the command’s tactical teams on ground engaged the bandits in a gun duel and due to the superior firepower of the police, the assailants were subdued.

“Three of the bandits were neutralized and their guns, one pump action gun and two locally-made double barrel pistols were recovered while others escaped into the bush with bullet wounds.

“Unfortunately, a police inspector lost his life in the attack,” Abattam stated.
