EKO HOT BLOG reports that the students of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Ondo State, on Tuesday protested over the death of a 200 level student of the institution, Daniel Akinyele, who reportedly had an accident on Monday evening.
The student, EKO HOT BLOG gathered, died from injuries he sustained in an auto accident on Monday night.
Akinyele and three others were said to have been involved in a crash around the Cathedral area of Akure, the state capital, around 10pm on Monday and rushed to a hospital.
It was learnt that the 200 level student was referred to Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Owo but his friends rushed him to the FUTA health centre where he was confirmed dead.
However, the protesting students, who blocked the Akure–Ilesa Expressway, alleged that the FUTA security guards did not open the gate for them to take the victim to the hospital after the accident, which led to the victim’s death.
The protesting FUTA students further alleged that the victim would have survived if he had been allowed to be taken to the hospital.
